Vintage Seven Immortal gods Of Fortune / Seven Lucky gods 七福神 Shichi Fukujin bracelet measures 7 1/2" long x 1 1/4" wide .
The faces are handpainted celluloid buttons. Each face has a number and a Kanji mark. The numbers correspond with those on the manufacturer's brochure and serve to identify each character by name. These numbers are also located on the links of the Ebine bracelet for the correct placement of each button.
See the lovely patina.... their actual color (Tan/beige - not yellow).
This beautiful bracelet was made by EBINE Japan, the buttons were produced in glass, metal and celluloid only. Bakelite was expensive and was never used.
These bracelets are often incorrectly attributed to the works of Selro owing to the presence of faces. As an ardent collector of Paul Selenger's jewelry, I can say with 2000 % certainty that they were not made by or for SELRO CORP.
The Seven Lucky gods of Japan refers to a group of popular deities whose origins stem from Indian, Chinese and Japanese gods of fortune folklore.
