ENCHANTING 1940s' NATURAL STRAW HAT WITH VELOUR AND FEATHER TRIM

This is a beautiful hat from the 1940s'. It is made of natural straw as one piece. The top of the hat is slanted forward and comes to a peak, and the front of the hat has a creative indentation. There is a black velour band around the hat, which has an interesting shape at the front, as pictured. From this band there are several feathers: several short, orange/gold feathers , plus two long, narrow feathers that project backwards. One of the feathers is black, and the other is gold, and creatively shaped, and painted with a matching metallic color. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. Label: BEST & CO New York This is an authentic piece of fashion history!
