Novel by Kazuo Ishiguro, the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2017 for The Remains of the Day, which also won the Booker prize. This novel follows the character Christopher Banks whose parents disappeared mysteriously from Shanghai when he was a child as he returns home as an adult to learn what happened. In excellent condition with no writing or highlighting inside, no rips or stains, the only call out is the dust jacket has some rubs/marks on the back, as shown in photos, but the book itself is Like New.
Book is about 8.5 x 6 inches and has 336 pages
As an adult, Banks has become an expert detective and a celebrated figure in London society. He decides to investigate and solve, finally, his parent's disappearance. But when he arrives in Shanghai, he finds that war has changed Shanghai beyond recognition and he becomes caught up in the Sino-Japanese battles that even reach as far as neighborhood enclaves. As he pursues the truth, the boundaries between life and imagination start to erode and his own recollections prove as difficult to trust as the people around him.
This book typically sells for $25-$70, depending on things such as the condition...see photos
