● The Explorers or Explorer Scouts was part of the Boy Scouts of America from 1949 – 1958. This logo was meant to be very modern and forward looking. To quote the Exploring manual: the general impression of movement and speed is intended, and the design is meant to be dynamic. The "V" in the center is symbolic of Explorer's growth and progress. The two prisms represents duty to self and fellow man. In 1910 the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) was founded by W. D. Boyce, an American newspaper man and entrepreneur who was inspired by and modeled the American version on The Boy Scouts Association in England. Although popularity in outdoor events has waned, membership has dropped, the BSA remains the largest scouting organization and one of the largest youth organizations in the United States, with about 1.2 million youth participants and about one million adult volunteers as of 2021.
