Egyptian carved alabaster yellow vase 9.5” tall. Purchased myself on a trip to Egypt in the mid-1990s. Definitely authentic and always stored carefully in my home. I hope my photos do it justice because the deep golden butterscotch color is gorgeous. Because of its colour and durability, alabaster was regarded as a pure stone and used for chapels, pavements in temples, sarcophagi, altars and above all statues. In Egypt, craftsmen used alabaster to make canopic jars and various other sacred and sepulchral objects.
