Elegant Gold and Black Damascene Dragon Brooch

This Damascene brooch is in the shape of a shield with a dragon and floral design. The pin has an unusual locking mechanism that is shown in the last photo. The brooch was on display at The Dragon Dreams Museum in Chattanooga, TN. Closed permanently in 2016, I have recently purchased the contents. Damascene, a type of jewelry generally made in Spain, is engraved and ornamented with metal (silver or gold) and black enamel. This unique jewelry originated in the 1400s in Damascus, thus, its name.
