From a very young age, Franco Bastianelli built a muffle furnace where he could fire small pieces of crushed glass mixed with various mineral oxides to obtain the famous Laurana enamels. In 1959, he presented enamel on copper pieces in Ancona at Palazzo Benincasa. (francobastianelli.com)
Enamel on Copper Bowl:
With a gold base interior, the artist used red lines throughout the bowl to draw your eyes to the green and orange flower at the center. The outside of the bowl is covered in a rich blue. The top of the bowl measures 4 3/8" diameter with a 1.5" base. The rim and 6 holes placed near the top show the Brutalist style used for this MCM treasure. In great condition, but note some crackling at the flower & exterior.
