Engraved Bird Necklace

The pendant for this necklace shows an engraved gold bird sweeping up against a black background with gold flowers. This dramatic scene is created using the Damascene method of jewelry making (see wiki below). The chain is approximately 22” long when fully extended and not including the pendant. The pendant is approximately 1 x 1.25”. — It’s in excellent condition. “Damascening is the art of inlaying different metals into one another—typically, gold or silver into a darkly oxidized steel background—to produce intricate patterns similar to niello. The English term comes from a perceived resemblance to the rich tapestry patterns of damask silk.” — wiki
