FABULOUS 1940s' PURPLE FEDORA/ "CROCHETED" BRIM + FABRIC FLOWERS & MATCHING VEIL

This hat is a showstopper! Everything about it is outstanding and uniquely beautiful. The medium flat-topped crown is made of fine purple straw, and it tilts forward as photographed. The brim is made of a matching color "crocheted" straw, and the brim continues towards the back, but leaves an opening between the crown and the brim. At the back there are gorgeous purple and fuchsia fabric flowers/leaves.Around the brim there is a matching piece of veil attached to it, to add drama...the veil does not cover the face There is an elastic band attached to the hat to keep it on a tilted position. This hat is a collector's dream! The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
