FASHIONABLE 1930s' BLACK FELT HAT + FEATHERS/VEIL & PEARL/BRONZE JEWEL

This is an adorable black felt tilt hat from the 1930s'. The medium height crown is in a tubular shape, and the short brim surrounding it, ends in a point at the back. Black veiling adorns the crown, and there is a satin bow at one side, from which a spray of black feathers emerge. There is also a magnificent bronze metal jewel with pearls, which is beautifully preserved for its age. There is also a grosgrain covered wide elastic attached, so as to hold the hat in a tilted position. Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
