I've seen my dad suffer through this & 5 other cancers. I've watched a strong, independent, happy man deteriorate, suffer. I pray for his comfort. Please, love each other, appreciate each other. Always tell the special people in your life how important they are to you. Tell them you love them. Hold them, kiss them, be there for them. You truly do not know what tomorrow may bring... ♡♡♡RIP, Daddy 11/10/37-06/05/14♡♡♡

rn1heart @jwielch They were brave men! It is so sad to hear how the VA has treated vets in the past.Hopefully things will improve greatly now that all of this has been exposed. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.:-)

rn1heart @jwielch He is lucky usually if you are stable civilian hospitals insist that you go to VA hospitals. It upsets my daughter-in-law if I discuss too openly to anyone. He was misdiagnoised by VA Doctors and a family Doctor. He was treated for indigestion until it was too late the tumor had invaded his stomach and esophagus. It is sad to see that happen to anyone .However he did die in the private hospital. We were divorced when this all happened. Is your mother alive?

tansam45 @jwielch - yes it does, I use to work with a lung cancer doctor that did- lung and esophageal cancer patients. Esophageal ca wasn't guaranteed if they would make it - those who did surgery were on the operating room anytime from 4-10 hours. My sympathy to you for your father- he fought a tough battle

beansmama19 @jwielch 🎀. Hi. I'm Teresa💕. Sweetheart, I just came to your closet to see who was liking so many things in my closet. ESOPHAGEAL CANCER is horrid. My Daddy, never sick a day in his like, lived 5 months. He was 75. This was in 1997. I miss him so very much still. He grew up poor, served in WWII, worked very hard ( still pretty poor). And died hard. Nothing was ever easy. I know what you and he went through. God bless you Darlin'.

jwielch @tansam45 Ty for your sympathy. With my dad also on dialysis, another surgery was outta the question. Back on Nov 7, 2012, my dad had n endoscopy & passed on the or table. They intubated him & in 24 hrs he was fine! He was such a fighter. His docs, including his oncologist, called him a miracle. Unfortunately though, his body just got too weak. He finally allowed everything to take him over. He had no fight left. 6 cancers...esophageal being the worst & spread to the lungs, end stage renal failure, emphysema, almost blind....ugh...& he never, ever, ever complained! He is truly at rest now...love him...

tansam45 @jwielch - he was a miracle and an awesome fighter! Most folks that came into the clinic just wanted to give up because they couldn't eat or they just stayed nauseated and weight started deteriorating on them sometimes slowly and sometimes fast. Some did had multiple cancers along with other medical issues that hindered their quality of life but I applaud all folks with that disease because it's no joke. I hope you feel at peace knowing your dad did not give up. May god continue to bless you and your family and thanks for sharing.
