Fantastic Vintage 1940 Era Taffeta Dance or Party Dress Raspberry Sherbet

Fantastic 1940 era long dance or party dress. Its features are so outstanding, we don't know where to start. The fabric is a raspberry sherbet tone taffeta with wine colored flocking in a floral pattern. Starting at the bodice--it has a squared neckline decorated with small clusters of millinery style flowers in muted pinks and purple. These are anchored by wine tone velvet bows. The bustline is pleated and offset by an inverted V cummerbund. The 9" puffed sleeves are exceptional--each carries a middle ruched band adding to the appeal of the puffiness. The inset waist skirt is very slightly gathered and trimmed with side to back 23" ties. Note how the heart-shaped patch pockets repeat the gathered pattern decorated with the tiny flower posey and 19" wine tone velvet ribbon tails. It closes at the side with 10" metal zipper. The label reads Original Design--Patented US Pat Office. We could not trace this brand. Size: no size label--the following measurements are approximate and obtained lying flat and doubled. Bust--36"; 32" waist; 47" hip; 13" across back; 15 1/2" shoulder to waist; 57 1/2" long to turn under hem. Condition: good vintage NOTE-there are two yellowish pea size smear on the right torso; there is a pin dot yellowish stain on the left breast. You will need to search for these.
