Elsa Schiaparelli is a Fashion icon whose designs are in collections of the great museums of the world. Schiaparelli and Chanel were arch rivals in Paris in the mid 20th C. (and Schiaparelli was by far the better designer). In the Sixties the House of Schiaparelli had extraordinary silk scarves made in Japan (as many couture designers did since Japan's craftsmanship was exquisite). This long silk scarf -- a rare fashion item nothing short of magnificent -- exemplifies Schiaparelli's passion for color. With hand-rolled edges and made of the finest silk (look closely at the twill!) this measures 59" long X 15" wide and is in wonderful condition w a subtle - barely visible -- teeny tiny mark near the label and a couple of subtle marks elsewhere -- hard to see in the elaborate pattern and no other wear. A museum-quality piece and true collectors' item (see 1st Dibs).
