Faux Fur & Black Knit Full Rhinestone Zipper Fontana Cardigan Sweater size Small

This cardigan sweater from Fontana Italian Design House, features a full Rhinestone Zipper from the hemline all the way up to finish in a mock neck. The brown/tan faux fur is so soft and in perfect condition. It is beautifully crafted with a very soft stretchy black ribbed knit. Based on label, I am guessing this sweater was distributed in 70s or 80s before the design house closed. A real head turner sweater from a design house rich in history. See below. Fontana Brand has a wonderful history dating back to the early 1900s in Italy. An Italian couture house, Fontana was founded as a small dressmakers shop by Amabile Fontana in 1907, but it was not until her daughters Zoe, Micol and Giovanna Fontana moved to Rome in 1936 that the family became famous. After WWII, the Sorelle Fontana were the first to feel the need to give fashion in Italy a look of its own, freeing it from foreign influence. In 1951 they went to the United States where their success was immediate and their fashion house was known internationally. Their famous customers were Princess Grace of Monaco, Margaret Truman, Jacqueline Kennedy and stars such as Ava Gardner, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Kim Novak, & Barbara Stanwyck.
