Federal Glass Rosemary Green Depression Glass Grill Plate
Diameter 9.5" & 0.75" H
1935-1937
Design: Around the edges: scallops look like arched church windows w/ 2 roses in every other one
Plate divided in 3 by 2 raised green glass bars w/ a rose bouquet in the center.
Internet Research: From depressionelegantglass.com "...Originally Federal released a fanciful pattern they named Mayfair. With Hocking’s Mayfair already there, Federal redesigned their Mayfair pattern and converted it to Rosemary. Rosemary is simple, with a center rose bouquet on plates and scalloped grooves with roses between on the rim. You may see it called Dutch Rose. Rosemary is heavy and durable, about the only point to check is surface wear. The shapes look more solid and don’t have the scallops of other Federal patterns."
Internet Research: From http://justglass.com/documents/articles/inhouse/rt116.html "...Together, Mayfair and Rosemary were only available for a very brief 3-year period. ..The grill plate, 6 inch cereal bowl, cream soup bowl and 9 oz tumbler were available to expand the set, but all are scarce today. ..." . Amber, called “Golden Glow” in the advertisements, was the most plentiful color produced and is most easily found today. “Springtime Green” and “Rose Glow”(pink) were also made during it’s brief production, but both are so scarce today that it must have been a very limited run."
