Louis Toffoli was a French painter born in Trieste, Italy in 1907, & died in Paris in 1999. He attended the Ecole Beaux Arts in Trieste and studied painting in various art academies in Italy and France. Toffoli was greatly inspired by the Cubist movement. Using his own variations & innovations, Toffoli's semi-abstract Cubist compositions are superbly achieved. Strong rhythms & movement created through subtle orchestrations of pastel color make Toffoli's style exciting & highly distinctive. Toffoli splits & divides the backgrounds of his works into variations of geometrical forms. In 1954, Toffoli learned the technique of lithography in the workshops of Fernand Mourlot, and then from 1968, he continues his editions of lithographs in those Jean-Claude Perrin.
