Growing up in an artistic family, art has always been close to Pagowski's heart: his parents were important figures in the Polish art world. In the 1980s and 90s Pagowski's illustrations appeared as book covers and in top newspapers and magazines including The New York Times, National Post, Flaunt, and Random House. One of the most significant collaborations in Pagowski’s career is his work with the Japanese fashion house Comme des Garçons and its founder, Rei Kawakubo. In 2000 he designed the patterns used in their main Fall/Winter collection. In 2002 Pagowski created the now famous logo for Comme Des Garcons' PLAY line: the red heart with black eyes became a cult trademark of the brand. Every season starting in 2011 until the present, Pagowski has been tasked with creating print designs for Comme des Garçons’ BLACK clothing and accessories line.
