matttbull @harleyneal661 merino would be an inferior wool to this, though it’s all preference. This is an 18oz wool, not as thick as the 24oz used in the mackinaw products. Though if it’s not what you’re looking for..that’s up to you.

harleyneal661 @matttbull I am generally partial to all Filson garments which I started wearing in the 1970s when I worked for the U.S. Forest Service since it was pretty much part of the uniform. I currently own a forest green Mackinaw double cruiser jacket which is only missing USFS insignia to be like the good old days, and a lighter-weight cape shoulder jacket. I like merino wool because it is not irritating on my neck and because it does not hold odors like the other types of wool.
