I made all three of these quilt tops from my new quilt pattern. For at least a little while they are just quilt tops and at the stage where you can have a say in what backing/binding is used and type of quilting.
I will probably sell at least two of the three.
They also will have a label that I had made specifically for this quilt pattern.
Quilt tops are all ~60”x60” but will shrink some once finished and washed.

They turned out soooo good! I love the middle one. Is there a way to put a border around it so make it a little bigger?

@kaelamcguire21 yes. I can put a border around it but cannot guarantee that I can use an exact print from the main part of the quilt. That pattern is designed to use fat quarters (an 18”x21” quarter yard) so I’m not sure if any of them are available in yardage since I didn’t check for that when I bought the fabric. I should be able to get something that matches really well but can’t guarantee an exact print.
kaelamcguire21
@snugglestitches will you check and then let’s go from there. Also what were your ideas for the back?
snugglestitches
@kaelamcguire21 for that one I was thinking something brown for backing with a bright yellow thread for the quilting, and I was thinking the wavy line in a diagonal grid since the Irish chain part of the pattern makes that diagonal grid design.
Is there a particular print or color you like for the border or just one that is an exact match to something on the quilt?
snugglestitches
@kaelamcguire21 and I have some scraps from the fat quarters that I was planning to worn into a scrappy binding. I really like scrappy bindings 😂
kaelamcguire21
@snugglestitches brown back sounds great, scrappy binding sounds great. Can we do orange instead of yellow thread. For the border I would like to match if possible but not sure if it is possible. :)
kaelamcguire21
@snugglestitches I do really like that green fabric though.
snugglestitches
@kaelamcguire21 I will look for the green fabric and if not available, I will check to see what is available (if anything). If I can’t find that exact green print, would you like a solid green that matches it?
Also, I can get some orange thread to match the oranges in the quilt top. I don’t have any shiny orange thread though.

@kaelamcguire21
For the brown backing, solid or some kind of print?
Polka dots are usually a safe bet that I can find them somewhere.
Do you like the diagonal grid wavy lines idea for the quilting?
snugglestitches
@kaelamcguire21 how big of a border do you want, so I’d know how much fabric to get?
kaelamcguire21
@snugglestitches do you have not shiny? I just thought the orange would be cuter.
kaelamcguire21
@snugglestitches not cuter. Sorry. I meant cute. It has been a crazy morning. Trying to multi task.
kaelamcguire21
@snugglestitches your plan for the green sounds great. For the back can we do a brown plaid? I love polka dots but since I am the only girl in the house I try and watch how many girly prints I pick...
kaelamcguire21
@snugglestitches whatever you think for the quilting works for me. I know you will make it beautiful. I don’t want to hinder your creativity on that.
kaelamcguire21
@snugglestitches oh I forgot to answer your border question. I have just noticed our family likes the quilts 65” or longer so whatever you think to get it that long or longer.
snugglestitches
@kaelamcguire21 sure I can get a not shiny orange thread that coordinates with the orange prints in the quilt.
I will look for a brown plaid or brown gingham if no plaid. Would you be ok with either regular cotton or flannel for that backing? That just might give us more options.
snugglestitches
@kaelamcguire21
I added a few pictures to show what that wavy line grid looks like. Only the diagonal one would have more diamond shapes compared with the ones in the picture. I thought it would look cool for the quilting to somewhat mirror the design on the front.
Oh and how big of a border do you want?
kaelamcguire21
@snugglestitches oh gingham is a good idea. Didn’t think of that. That would be cute. Yeah either cotton or flannel. Sorry I meant not shiny if you already have it but if your ordering shiny please.
snugglestitches
@kaelamcguire21 I can order shiny thread but that place I get the shiny thread has been taking a few weeks. That’s not too bad though because might take me that long or a bit more to get to it anyway with my current orders and being back at the full time job.
Only thing about ordering is I can’t match it to the fabric where as I can do that if I get it from the store.
Oh and just saw where you answered the border question.
kaelamcguire21
@snugglestitches Oh ok. Well you know how I like to match so however you need to get the best orange thread.
kaelamcguire21
@snugglestitches I like the examples. And I also like that it’s a quilting we haven’t done on any of my quilts I don’t think. Diagonal will add a nice twist. Did I answer all the questions you need?
snugglestitches
@kaelamcguire21 that should be enough for me to collect fabrics and thread.
Be thinking about you me stitch for the binding.
Also, I did put some thread pictures on the quilt layout we talked about last night.
I’ll make us another listing for the pumpkin quilt top and put in the specs. I’ll need to see how much the backing fabric and border fabric cost and then will give you a price quote. I’ll look online today to try to get an idea for that.
kaelamcguire21
@snugglestitches Sounds great. A lot going on.
kaelamcguire21
@snugglestitches I wanted to mention I like when the little squares/diamond in the quilting are smaller.
