jenne70 @karens54 @humblethread wow! That’s incredible! I love the pups. How long will it last?
Dec 10Reply
karens54
karens54 @jenne70 the gingerbread house will last awhile. It isn’t all edible and we are using it as a decoration. We are still making dog cookies as my sister will take some to FL for her grand daughter and I’ll be making trays of cookies for friends to deliver this weekend (I hope).

karens54 @humblethread Patrick makes the figures, including the dogs basically piece by piece. Body, head, etc then uses icing to build. I make sweet tart dough which is heavier than regular butter cookie dough & use gel food coloring. I think it’s done now! Notice the Knight Templar 😊

karens54 In the meantime I have made butterball, ginger & coconut, cornmeal & thyme, olive oil & pistachio cookies & biscotti. I still want to make a couple of batches of cookies with chocolate on Monday. We’re having guests tomorrow so we have to get on a different cooking mode today. Enjoy your day, Rhonda. 💕

jenne70 Is that a cheese soufflé 😋
Mar 24Reply
karens54
karens54 @jenne70 that is actually a Dutch Baby. My latest obsession. 3 eggs 1/2 cup flour 1/2 cup milk 1 tablespoon sugar Pinch of nutmeg 4 tablespoons unsalted butter Syrup, preserves, confectioners' sugar or cinnamon sugar Step 1 Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Step 2 Combine eggs, flour, milk, sugar and nutmeg in a blender jar and blend until smooth. Batter may also be mixed by hand.

karens54 Place butter in a heavy 10-inch skillet or baking dish and place in the oven. As soon as the butter has melted (watch it so it does not burn) add the batter to the pan, return pan to the oven and bake for 20 minutes, until the pancake is puffed and golden. Lower oven temperature to 300 degrees and bake five minutes longer. Step 4 Remove pancake from oven, cut into wedges and serve at once topped with syrup, preserves, confectioners' sugar or cinnamon sugar.

karens54 @humblethread thank you. I was going to add a photo of a cake I made for my sister today but I didn’t like the way it came out. The photo, not the cake😊 Hope that you are doing better💕. We didn’t lose power but a lot of people did. It’s still crazy windy.

humblethread @karens54 You are so creative!!! It’s beautiful! These photos cheer me up - love thinking of you making these cute scenes in your baking. What kind of chicken is that? Looks delish.
May 25Reply
karens54
karens54 @humblethread the first chicken is so good and so easy. Chicken Florentine by Joanna Gaines. I substituted chicken tenders instead of the chicken breast because that’s what I had.The one on the bottom is chicken thighs with a sticky Asian sauce. If that’s the one you’re talking about let me know and I will figure out where I got the recipe. Thanks for your compliments. I love being in the kitchen.

suzyque What is the casserole with the asparagus? Makes it such a fun dish. I love to cook too. Pizza tonight in our gas pizza oven bet purchase we’ve made lately.
Oct 27Reply
karens54
karens54 @suzyque hi, how are you? It isn’t a casserole, it is a focaccia bread! Just use your normal focaccia recipe and use veggies herbs etc. to make a design. I’m envious of your gas pizza oven. You could probably cook this in it!

suzyque
suzyque @karens54 I’m doing just fine thank you. I looked at the top picture maybe that was before you baked it didn’t look so brown Or just my imagination but it’s really pretty. I hope all is well with you just getting a little bored but not too bad I stay busy gardening cooking writing my bike etc.

jenne70 Oh my goodness, everything looks incredible. I would enjoy every bite of this! What is that tomato tart?
Sep 30Reply
karens54
karens54 @jenne70 yes, it’s a rustic tomato tart with local, heirloom tomatoes. The crust has Parmesan and thyme and there’s a cup of Parmesan under the tomatoes. Got the recipe from food52 So amazing.

karens54 @jenne70 @humblethread I made this Buche de Noel the other day. It has pulled sugar “flames” & sits on a bed of “ash” which is colored graham cracker crumbs and lavender buds. Inside is buttercream, out is whipped ganache. So good!
