Field Marshal Erwin Rommel (James Mason) leads the German troops against the Allied forces in World War II. Rommel's virtuosity on the battlefield makes him a national hero and earns the begrudging respect of his foes, but his tactics also infuriate Adolf Hitler. Rommel's close friend Dr. Strölin (Cedric Hardwicke) asks him to take part in a plan to assassinate the Führer; when Hitler learns of Rommel's involvement in the scheme, the field marshal is given a chilling ultimatum. With Jessica Tandy The Desert Rats is a prequel to the above - Richard Burton stars in this exciting story of the stubborn, courageous men who held Rommel at bay in North Africa despite bring hopelessly outnumbered. The year is 1941, and Rommel has the British in full retreat. All that stands between him and the Suez Canal is the fortress of Tobruk, manned by a small army of Australian troops who are ordered to hold this vital position at any cost. Many of the men are green recruits, and it falls to Capt. MacRoberts (Burton) to whip them into shape. 1953 🆕NEW🆕 Questions? Please ask!
