Frame: 20-1/2” wide by 22-3/8” tall. Frame is super beautiful and ornate, see last photo.
Couple flaws shown in picture - one scratch on actual piece (pic 2) and a scratch on the frame (pic 3). Unfortunate but possibly fixable - will reflect this in the price. The back also has a large rip in the paper, not sure how much that matters in purchasing non-original art.
You’ll notice the placard at the bottom reads: “The Landing / H. Robert”. After a bit of research I’ve found this piece is actually called “The Landing Place”. Sometimes misprints end up spiking the value of a particular item, not sure whatsoever if that’s the case here but I will find out before I officially sell it. Please feel free to make offers anyway.
The scene is Rome, I believe post-crumbling of the Coliseum or maybe this is a rendition of the early phases of that time frame. Anyway, it seems to be a pretty respected piece. Was originally painted (this is not an original) in 1787-1788.
