How heavy is this? Will it be good for snowy weather?

I live in Minnesota. I'd say it is good to about 20-30 degrees for 40-60 min of time. I would definitely put on a heavier coat any colder than that for a longer amount of time. But running in and out of a car, it would be just fine for almost any weather. But I have no idea what your level of cold tolerance is either. I bought it as a casual dress jacket for the winters.
