This gorgeous 1960's famous designer Adolfo red straw tam is a showstopper anywhere you wear it. A tam, is a soft, voluminous round hat, usually with a round seam that joins the flat crown to the sides. Tams often have a band around the bottom that gathers in the voluminous crown and secures the hat to the head of its wearer. The fine straw hat features a stunning small circle at the top protruding about an inch above the crown. The finishing touches of this amazing look are the black vinyl bands that adorn the circle at the top, & around the band around the bottom of the hat, which end in a bow one the side. Adolfo (Sardinia) was a famous designer (1933 - 2021) who worked with the most famous millinery designers of the time. In 1962, he opened his own millinery house with a $10,000 loan from Bill Blass, & in 1963 he launched Adolfo Réalités & Adolfo II.Adolfo began to design clothing to complement the hats his models wore, and by the mid 1960s his celebrity clients ranged from the Duchess of Windsor, Gloria Vanderbilt, and Betsy Bloomingdale to Jackie Kennedy Onassis & Nancy Reagan (who wore a red Adolfo dress, currently in the Smithsonian, to her husband’s second inaugural ball). His custom clothing was available both in his salon and in the Adolfo boutique at Saks Fifth Avenue. Label: ADOLFO II , NEW YORK PARIS This hat is in wonderful vintage condition and has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 hats we have collected for 40+ years.Mannequin not for sale.

alford650 Hi, I really love this hat . Can you give me the inside circumference of it? Is it 23 inches which is considered large or is it more on the small side. Could you please measure

alford650 @lanu11 in your opinion, do you think because of the positioning to one side maybe it will work because it doesn’t have to all the way around my head . I normally need 23 inches but because of the side position it may work

lanu11 @alford650 most hats. Except for fedoras are really tilt hats. This means that you wear them slightly off to one side. We can attach an elastic band to the inside, which will allow you to secure it better under the hair. If you absolutely need a size 23, then this hat is not going to work. The hat is rather flat, and really is not allowing it to be fitted tightly on your head. We would want you to be 100% in love with it, so don’t feel pressured Blessings.
