Raku Fired hand thrown pottery Bowl. Beautiful multicolored iridescent copper oxide glaze, with a geometric triangle pattern around the inner rim. Slightly flattened shape. Measures 11.25” in diameter and 3” tall. Raku is not watertight, so best used for display.
Hand made by artist Gay Liebert. She has been a ceramics artist for over 35 years, working in Michigan, Oregon, California, and now Nevada, now specializing in raku pottery. Gay fires her raku pieces in a gas kiln, then removes them to a pit lined with pine needles. She smothers the resulting fire with a lid, leaving a thin layer of copper on the forms. As the pieces cool, air leaks into the lid and reoxidizes the copper, resulting in a wide range of colors.
In Very Good condition. No chips or cracks. Some light scratching on one area in the base of the bowl - see circled detail photo. Signed on the base by the artist. See all photos for details.
