Geisha Doll, 'Girl Carrying flowering Wisteria'. Very loved in Japanese homes.

This vintage Geisha girl is 16" tall. She is very lifelike and pleasant to look at. It's like having a real sister in your home. There are two main holidays for recognizing the dolls. One is for girls, and another for boys. They often depict the Royal Family, their cultural government structure including emperor, princess, cabinet members, samurai, gardeners etc. They are displayed in tiers of importance and in similar sequence, so they can be judged for outfits, handpainted features, poses etc. The Geisha Doll is thought to be alive with emotions and in spirit much like a companion or close friend.
