Germaine Monteil Compact Superglow Face Powder Elegant Oval

Lovely compact of Germaine Monteil's Superglow Face Powder. The compact is titled The Elegant Oval and was introduced in 1963. It is a brushed gold tone with an applied scroll. It has push pin opening. The paper cover remains and assures this is "luxuriously sheer and fragrant." The original labeled powder puff is extant, but has been used. The powder was intact, but we must admit the small scrape was our fault. The paper label on the back remains. We found a wonderful site--cosmeticandskin.com which has an extensive article on the history of Germaine Monteil with vintage ads. That search helped us to identify the pattern as The Elegant Oval and the start date of 1963. The Germaine Monteil brand has been sold multiple times, most recently in 2019. Size: 2 5/8 x 2 x 1/2 Condition: Compact is in good vintage condition with no major scrapes. The powder is largely intact except for the slight nudge that was our fault.
