M.I. Hummel figurines began when a porcelain shop owner discovered the postcard images created by a Bavarian nun in 1934. Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel's religious drawings and paintings, mostly of children, were transformed into porcelain figurines by Franz Goebel. The figurines were well-liked in Bavaria and across Germany and grew in popularity when American soldiers brought them home after World War II. Hummel quality is amazing - and known around the globe as the best there is!
This piece was designed by Arthur Moeller in 1935. This piece was made between 1979 and 1990. There aren't many of these around..."To Market" shows a boy and girl as they brace the wind on their way to do their shopping. She carries a basket with a bottle of wine in it.
No original box. Piece is in excellent condition - no cracks, chips, or breaks. Piece measures 5 1/2" high and weighs 9 ounces before packaging.
