A 1950's handmade locking wooden chest with 3 drawers inside. Made of a beautiful warm toned Mango Wood from India, the box is meticulously handpainted with blue, red/white, and black flowers, gold dots, and an evil eye pattern in the center on a red background. Each drawer is painted with a matching design along with brass pulls and metal details. The chest is painted on all sides except the bottom, where you can see all of the details of the handmade box as shown in the detailed pictures. Each of these pieces is one of a kind and is rare to come across in such a great condition. There are surface scratches on the bottom on the box from normal wear as well as tool marks from the production of the piece. It is finished off with 2 brass hinges on the front of the box, which allow the front side to open down in order to access the drawers within and also a brass latch with hole to add a lock for the security of your treasures. Truly ONE of a kind! 😍 The evil eye symbol (🧿) has been found through thousands of years of history across cultures, including Latin America and parts of Asia. The symbol, most often depicted as four concentric circles in the shape of an eye, is used to ward off variations of evil intentions. Red lanterns have a long, storied history in China and are regarded as symbols of prosperity. According to the Taoist philosophy of the Five Elements – Wu Xing, the color red is associated with good fortune and long life, and is seen as particularly favorable.
