TIPS FOR LIGHTING YOUR PHOTOS: Natural, indirect sunlight yields the truest colors and the fewest shadows. If that's not possible, use lightbulbs that say they mimic natural light. Broad-spectrum lamps (commonly used to treat seasonal depression) also work great. If, like me, you use your phone to take pictures, tape a tiny piece of kleenex or dryer sheet over the flash; it diffuses the flash to create a softer light. @norisstash has a great tutorial in her closet on how to make a DIY lightbox.

@mcdisney thanks for the mention!

DEALING WITH RUDENESS: Most Poshers are great, but rudeness does happen. Never let a customer "bait" you into behaving the way they're behaving; it provides them with a measure of satisfaction. As a seller, you have everything to lose, whereas the buyer isn't really at risk. Our comments are permanent; other buyers see them. Don't lose future sales over one heated exchange. If you MUST respond, keep it civil and short. I promise, the anger will pass faster if you walk away and save your energy!

FIRST STEPS FOR INCREASING SALES: To increase your sales, follow as many people as you can, and share others' listings often. They'll usually return the favor, and since they have more followers than you do, they're helping you spread the word about your amazing closet. Share groups are a fantastic way to get more shares and meet new Poshers! Sharing to parties also exposes you to new people, so don't neglect them. 😀

FIRST STEPS FOR A NEW CLOSET: 1: Create 10+ listings; PM says closets with 10+ items sell better. 2: Take focused, well-lit photos, the more the better. 3: Write a great description! Include measurements, flaws, and colors. 4: Set a bundle discount, to encourage people to buy multiple items at once. 5: Fill out your "Meet the Posher" listing (or make a new one if you deleted it). It's a good place for people to reach out to you with comments. 6: SHARE!

This is great! May be a silly question but what are share groups?
phoenixstrong
@magsxc6 Hi Maggie! In a share group, people sign up one day, and agree to share a certain number of items (usually 4-10) from the closets of everyone else who has signed up that day. I get a lot of traffic on days I participate in share groups. @teamsoldout has a couple to choose from each day; I can tag you on their Q&A page so you can find it. 😀

HOW TO GET FREE SHIPPING BOXES: Did you know the USPS will deliver boxes right to your door--FOR FREE??? Go to Store.usps.com and choose "Shipping Supplies." IMPORTANT: You must choose the regular Priority boxes; the ones that say "Priority Flat Rate" or "Priority Express" are incorrect. The ones you want say "Priority" and somewhere on the box it says "Mailing Box." You do NOT want the words "Flat Rate" on there anywhere. They ship in packs of 10 or 25, and have an assortment of sizes.

Hi- Im new to poshmark--- selling- I have about 50 items in my closet- and was hoping for some advice --- Ihave discovered that some people have 2,3 or more closets-- some seem to be divided by category- jewelry , mens, etc.
🐾🐾🐾my question- what is the optimum number of items in one closet? 🐾🐾🐾also - what is your opinion on categorizing- or focusing closets ??
Thank you for posting this board😉🐾🐶
phoenixstrong
@herbiedog Hi, and welcome! Posh will only let you have two closets. Some people do it so they can sell men's or children's clothes in one and women's in another. As for the focus and organization. i think it depends on what you want YOUR closet to be. Mine is mostly used items, and few are the same brand, so I keep mine unorganized, letting people browse it as they might an antique store.

@herbiedog (cont.) Sellers with all new or boutique items might choose to set theres up more by category or color, to make t feel more like a high-end store. As to the size, I personally find I started selling more bundles once I had about 175 items in my closet; it increases the chances of someone finding several items they want. Is any of that helpful? 😀

Very helpful-- Thank you soooo much!!😉🐶🐾🐥

@mcdisney how do people organize their closets by type or brand? I have lots of kids, women's and VS specific I would like to separate out - or even just to move all the SOLD items to the bottom. (I currently only Posh from my iPhone) Thanks!
phoenixstrong
@ashleymos Hi, Ashley! Unfortunately, the only way to move your listings around is to share them in the order you want them. I do recommend making a "sold past this point" sign; that way, you can just start each day by sharing that, then your available listings, and the sold items you don't share will fall down to the bottom. 😀

@mcdisney thanks for info! I was afraid that would be the answer, but I'll just have to do my best! 😬

@phoenixstrong how do I join find a share for girls clothing??? Great advice!
phoenixstrong
@kittyswardrobe Hi Kitty! @jimsprincess has one in her closet just for kids. Many of the share groups do allow children's items, even if it's not their specialty. When you go to "Shop" and type "share group," you'll find them, and can check their rules. 😀

@phoenixstrong and I'm talking about not engaging in the rudeness comment , wasn't sure that was clear which one I was commenting on 😊👍🏼

This is so helpful, Karen! Q: I just tried to share to Facebook. An auto-message comes up, and it doesn't allow me to change it. Is there a way to get that to work? -Nancy
nancy_s99
Ah. . . turns out the issue is the device I was using (LG tablet). When I share to FB on my PC, it works as expected. A little inconvenient, but I can live with it. :-D
