Modernist classic necklace-pendant, created in Brazil by the jewelry house of H. Stern. This elegant piece was crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish and embellished with a great selection of fifty seven natural earth mined gemstones. Fitted with the original designer's chain.
Spinel: Mount in an eight-prongs setting, with 1 oval faceted cut (18.2 by 12.5 by 8 mm) of a natural reddish-orange spinel of 13.93 carats.
Diamonds: Mount in pave beaded settings, with 56 round brilliant cut diamonds, 0.84 carats, white colorless F/G color, VS-2 clarity.
Weight: 19.2 grams, (12.31 Dwt).
Lenght: 17 inches, (43.18 Cm).
Measures: of 35 mm by 20 mm (1.38 by 0.79 Inches).
Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark for Hans Stern, the mark for the assay of the gold and signed, "S. 750 SP 160".
Hans Stern
The company was founded in Brazil by Hans Stern in the 1945. When he was a teenager, he and his family fled Nazi Germany and arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, penniless. Hans found a job at Cristab, a company that cut and exported gemstones. He loved the colorful semi-precious gems and learned all he could about the jewelry business. He also studied the languages he would need to succeed in the international gem trade. Part of Hans's job was visiting the mines. He became friendly with the miners and learned more about the gemstones from them. He pawned his precious accordion to buy gems
