1995 Hazard is an early English game played with two dice; it was mentioned in Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales in the 14th century. Despite its complicated rules, hazard was very popular in the 17th and 18th centuries and was often played for money. At Crockford's Club in London, hazard was especially popular.
OBJECT OF GAME
Starting at Southwark, the object of the game is to be the first player to reach Canterbury having discarded each of your Pilgrim Cards. You may discard a card only when you land on the corresponding pilgrim on the board. For example; if you hae The Franklin's Tale card, you may discard that card only when you land on the figure representing The Franklin.
In order to move your pawns around the board towards Canterbury, you are required to play Hazard, and stake tokens on the outcome of the throw of the dice. How far you may move your pawn depends of how many tokens have been staked before the dice have been thrown.
