An exquisite decorative enamel Trinket Box. A perfect gift for any occasion.
Halcyon Days Enamels are direct descendants of the rare and beautiful enamels of the 18th century England. Enameling is an age-old art form present in the UK since the 1740s. These beautiful pieces are made from Enamel and Copper using traditional craft techniques, hand crafted and manufactured in England.
This particular piece relates to the French Revolution "Declaration of the Rights of Man, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity"
"Men are born and remain free and equal in rights" is the first article of the Declaration of the rights of Man and of the Citizen, a document adopted by the National Assembly of France in 1789.
The top of the Trinket Box has 2 National Flags of France with gold Cords and Tassels. These Flags appear all around the side of the Box as well with the years 1789 - 1989 (representing 200 years since the National Assembly of France)
Inside the lid quotes "Men are born and remain free and equal in rights" Declaration issued by The National Assembly August 1789.
The piece measures approx 2 3/8" in diameter and 1 3/8" tall. Made in Bilston, England.
Excellent condition, no chips, scratches etc. Comes with original storage box. The storage box looks to be in good shape, does have a little mark on the right side (very small - see photo) and normal handling wear.
