A musical exquisite decorative enamel Trinket Box.
Halcyon Days Enamels are direct descendants of the rare and beautiful enamels of the 18th century England. Enameling is an age-old art form present in the UK since the 1740s. These beautiful pieces are made from Enamel and Copper using traditional craft techniques, hand crafted and manufactured in England.
This beautiful piece commemorates the Classic Production of Puccini's La Boheme at Metropolitan Opera that was directed by Franco Zeffirelli on December 14, 1981. This staging is considered one of the most beloved in the Mets history and has had a revived production almost every season since this one.
The inside lid describes the musical notes as "A Spirited Soldier's march provides a finale for the gaiety of Christmas Eve at the Cafe Momus, in Act II of Puccini's La Boheme, as produced and designed by Franco Zeffirelli for the Metropolitan Opera".
(Puccini's La Boheme is one of the most famous operas ever written (debuted first in 1896), set in Paris around 1830 and shows the Bohemian lifestyle of a poor seamstress and her artist friends.)
Beautiful scenes from the Opera on the top lid and sides of the Trinket Box.
The piece measures approx 3" x 2" and 1 1/4" tall
Excellent condition, no chips, scratches etc. Comes with original storage box. The storage box looks to be in great shape as well, does have a small mark on front of box and some wear on gold edging around top of box (see photos).
