A pocket size (6.5" x 4.5") book with a hard cover. Bound in green cloth with yellow design and lettering. Title on spine.
The Arden set out to be an exemplary scholarly edition of Shakespeare’s works in single-volume releases. Each work is presented in modern spelling, lavishly edited with dense commentaries and textual notes on the same page as the text, each written by a highly reputable editor. Alongside this, each edition contains an introduction in the ballpark of 150 pages detailing the play’s textual, critical, and performance history, as well as appendices examining the play’s sources.

It also contains an interesting bit of ephemera; a boarding receipt from Kalamazoo College, dated 1931, used as a bookmark by a previous owner.
Very good antique condition. Tight Binding and straight. No loose pages or tearing of pages. 1 page corner folded over. Front cover worn. Corner edges worn and bumped. Spine ends worn. Spine lettering is faded. Underlining and annotations throughout but still a good readable copy for its age.
