Dichroic Jewelry Sterling Wrapped Fused Dichroic Glass Pendant Mosaic Style. Apple Blue Teal This petite little pendant is made with multiple layers of dichroic glass bits and pieces in gorgeous shades of teal, light green and blue heavily capped in clear for added depth. The cabochon measures 22mm. Total length 1.5 in. This piece was entirely hand crafted by me in my home studio! The glass cabochons are made by cutting and carefully layering dichroic glass bits on a ceramic shelf . The shelf is then placed in a kiln and fired. The cab is then cooled, more dichroic is added, then placed back in the kiln and the entire piece is re-fired. This is repeated multiple times for incredible depth and color play....(unless described otherwise ). When I’m happy with the piece it is then shaped with lapidary equipment to give it a nice clean edge, then placed back in the kiln to polish the edge and anneal the piece for extra strength. The cabochon is then wrapped in a classic style in a secure cage style setting. The entire piece is then placed in a tumbler to harden and polish the wire. The bale is large enough to accommodate a variety of chains. Dichroic glass is extremely hard to photograph, I try to represent the piece as true as possible.
