Handknit Irish Fisherman Aran Sweater, true vintage popcorn knit stitch

100% handknit bainin sheep’s wool I spent years tracking down a true handknit, vintage Aran sweater. I finally found this but it was too wide (I’m 5’1/XXS) for an oversized look so I am reluctantly passing it on. I’m guessing it’s a men’s M/L? In the age of machine made, here are 3 important valuable differences in this sweater: -Blackberry stitch. The unique dense knots are a special complex stitch that is impossible for machines to replicate—look it up. You won’t see them on most handknit sweaters produced for export now either without a big markup, as it requires a lot of extra yarn and increases the water resistance and insulative properties. -Handsewn label. A marker of true vintage, as before machine printing the writing on the label had to be stitched by hand! -BAININ WOOL. This is not cheap mass produced merino. This is thick, traditional undyed Aran bainin sheep’s wool, which is rugged, extra insulative and water-resistant. If you look up Aran sweaters with these qualities you will find those available ask for upwards of $250+. I never wore this sweater besides trying it on sadly so it is in the same condition I purchased from another vintage marketplace. No pilling or pulls that I see. Stored folded always and tucked away, no smoking, no pets and no moths.
