Harry Rosenfeld Lion Face Gilt Shoulder Bag, ca. 1970

A striking shoulder bag designed by Harry Rosenfeld and made in Italy ca. 1970. This remarkable purse features on either side, the face of a male lion surrounded by it's mane in gold metal gilt and captivating emerald green jeweled eyes. The lion's facial expression suggests a human like complexity of emotion behind its feline facial features. This purse is approximately 8 inches tall, 6 inches across, and has a 32 inch long twisted gilt chain shoulder strap. It opens and closes like a clamshell with a snap at the top center and stands upright on the small support base at the bottom center. The interior is a lovely soft yellow fabric lining with yellow silk ribbon trim and a small tag that says Made In Italy. The small size and unique design makes it an excellent statement piece to capture attention and compliment a bold and elegant style.
