elkcrkchic @hurdkb Thank you! We are headed home right now. It was a long trip, but a good one. My husband was diagnosed in March with an autoimmune disease. He's a fighter. He is doing much better, but still has some lung issues they are trying to manage. I appreciate you looking for me. I also really appreciate the shares. Thanks again! 💞 💞 ☺

hurdkb 😘😘I hope all continues to go well. I also have an autoimmune disease. Crohn's disease. Diagnosed in 1988 but got to the point I had to quit working outside of the home 5 years ago. I am grateful to have found Poshmark. I will keep sharing. Don't worry about sharing back. Take care of your husband and you. I will keep y'all in my prayers.😘😘

elkcrkchic @hurdkb Autoimmune diseases are very strange. All they can really do is manage symptoms. I am sorry to hear you have one as well. I keep hearing of more and more people getting them. Thanks so much for all the shares and support.

hurdkb I am very lucky to be in Nashville. My doc is an awesome Vanderbilt gastro. One of the best in the country. I have an injection every other Monday and have to take vitamin shots because my body no longer processes the ones that go into blood stream through my gut. My brother (RA) and my Mom ( Lupus) both have autoimmune diseases and my grandmother had Crohn's. I find it odd they say they are not inherent. I hope you both are doing well. I know it can be hard on you too. Take care.😘😘😘😘

elkcrkchic @hurdkb Wow, I am glad you are in good hands. My husband's mother has RA. But it has not bothered her in years. It is strange that they say they are not inherited. I see many families that have multiple issues. I am hanging in there. It is hard on me because my once very loving husband has become very moody, and often short tampered. I have had to learn to adjust to this. My boys (7 and 4 years old) also notice a huge difference in their dad. Wish I could help him more! 💞 ☺

hurdkb 😘You are the rock now. I can't even imagine how my husband dealt with this for so many years. Married in 83, diagnosed in 87, 5 days in the hospital, damn near bled to death. No children because of it. The one thing I have had beaten into my head is to try to keep from getting sick because you have no defense. We are very careful to wipe down grocery carts and I run away from people coughing or sneezing. My family is great because they know the dangers and won't come near me if they are not well.😘😘

hurdkb 😘😘He will accept it if you can keep everything as normal and upbeat as possible. I won't tell you there won't be highs and lows, but if he can learn to accept it things can be pretty normal. My gastro has a psychiatrist on staff but he sucked. Totally bummed me out. Not what I needed, him assuming that I was pitiful. The dietician on staff is great. He should listen to the ones that are bringing him up not pitying him or assuming that he is down on himself. The hardest thing for him is to accept it and move on. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. You are the rock😘😘

hurdkb 💖I just read about it. Sounds really painful and difficult. If he has the heartburn PROTONIX is awesome. The high blood pressure thing sux. I have it now and mine used to be really low. Hopefully he has the type that eases up and starts reversing a bit after a few years. I am on Cimzia. The drugs cross over for autoimmune diseases. My brother and I have been on the same things at different times. It's so weird.💖

elkcrkchic @hurdkb Thank you. I really appreciate all of the support you are giving me. It's very nice how people look after each other in rough times. Hugs! My husband is on mycophenolate. It is a drug for organ transplant patients. He was on a very high dose of prednisone. But just for a short time. Talk about cranky. That was not a good one! Glad they switched it.

hurdkb 💖I feel for you both. Prednisone suxxxxx. I went from 110 lbs to 164 in 3 month. And it makes you mad at the world. I was on MP6 and Methetrexate. Both for transplant and chemotherapy. Methotrexate suxxxx drains your body of what energy you may have as I expect what he is on will also do. Please know it will get better as the drugs help ease the disease up. With the Prednisone it works but it is horrible. If he has a craving I hope it isn't boston cream pie like mine was. I am on Cimzia since 2009 and it has been awesome. Remember you are a rock. Hug your kids and don't try to keep family and friends out of the loop. Y'all are in my prayers.💖💕

hurdkb Hi again I don't know what they have told you about diet but my brother (RA) and I have both done a lot of research and know that these things help. Especially with his liver enzymes, energy and general well being. Pomegranate Juice, Green Tea and all Teas. Are good for liver health. I'm sure they are drawing blood to keep a check on this, but they sometimes neglect to tell you how to combat it. Also a handful of peanuts, some dark chocolate and some tea in the morning will help keep sugars even all day. Yogurt!!! These Meds really screw with your liver. Lots of nuts are good things. I hope I'm helping Please let me know if this is TMI.

elkcrkchic @hurdkb The information is great. He does do a lot of nuts. But I will have to get more yogurts and pomegranate juice. We have a lot of tea, but he doesn't drink it very often. He has refused to go to a nutritionist because he thinks they are going to tell him he cannot eat his favorite things. He can be quite stubborn. Sometimes if I start eating something he might try it. So maybe just getting it in the fridge will help. Believe me, any information helps me at this point. I work full time, plus my bracelets (which the bracelets help keep me focused and happy....I love creating! Like you, I wish I had a kiln and dark room. It is so fun and relaxing). I don't always have the time for research, especially with my boys. So keep the helpful hints coming. 💞

hurdkb Ok here's some. For one thing unless he eats really unhealthy he is safe. Give up all fast food. It isn't good for him plus without an immune system, which his Docs are killing you never know who sneezed on your food. Yoplait Yogurt Whips (my fav key lime pie) and Teddy. Graham's. Your kids will like it too. Just toss some Teddy Grahams on top and eat it up. Yum. Strawberry Whips good too. No more fragranced washer detergent. My Doc said All Free. Best body lotion Cera V, only available at drugstores,, helps replace skin cell structure. Go back to cooking in an iron skillet and eating only foods that you can pronounce what is in them. Like olive oil for lower heat, canola and grape seed oil for high heat and real butter. The nutritionalist won't tell him he can't have good stuff. They will give helpful advise that will help with energy levels and liver health that he will need to know with these harsh drugs. He and the kids can make their own special trail mixes at the grocery. He needs dry fruit, nuts, dark chocolate and my fav sesame sticks.

elkcrkchic @hurdkb Awesome, I love to get new ideas. He doesn't eat a whole lot of junk food, but he eats a lot of red meat. The kids love trying new things, so I am good there.

hurdkb I had been eating just fish and soups when I was really bad. My Iron level bottomed out. My Doc told me to go buy a big fillet, cook it in the iron skillet and eat my red meat.

elkcrkchic @hurdkb That's good news for my hubby. He loves his red meat. We do cook in cast iron often.

elkcrkchic @hurdkb we are doing fairly well right now. He does have one hand that is worse than the other. It tends to turn blue more often. However, his spirits are much better! Thanks for checking on me, sharing my items, and adding me to your list for parties. All are greatly appreciated! ☺🎃
