Vintage hand-crafted brown and amber fused glass square plate from Higgins Studio of Chicago.
Higgins Studio was founded in 1948 by Michael and Frances Higgins who were pioneers in the rediscovery and refinement of the ancient art of glass fusing.
This is a rare piece with the "Dancing Man Mark" engraved on it, which is proof it was produced in the early years from 1951 to 1957.
Produced using the characteristic slump glass manufacturing method and finished in two layers, it has a three-dimensional feel and depth within just a few millimeters of thickness, giving it an attractive look unique to Higgins.
