I have tested the piece and it tests as bakelite, natural patina due to age and use, see photos for closer inspection This vintage gold wash sterling silver Buddha "Bandora" pin is part of a group of a group of Asian figures made exclusively by Hobe in the 1940's. The flowers are sterling and has a gold wash though hard to see. If it were polished it might be easier to make out but I opted to leave the original patina.
