Pendant with brooch designed by Hobe.
Fabulous piece of costume jewelry, created by the Parisian/American maker Hobe Et Co., back in the 1940. This beautiful retro piece was carefully assembled with parts crafted in .925 sterling silver and 14kt gilded .925 sterling. The piece is composed by an oval brooch with a hanging pendant and is fitted at the reverse with a hinged stem bar with a security lock.
Gemstones: Mount in bezel settings, with 3 faceted cut of colored orange citrines crystals, with an estimate of 45 carats.
Birthstone: Citrines for the month of November.
Weight: 52.35 Grams, (33.56 Dwt).
Measurements: 47 mm by 108 mm (1.85 x 4.25 Inches).
Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the gold and silver assay and signed, "HOBE STERLING 1/20 14KT".
Hobe et Cie was founded in Paris in 1887 by Jacques Hobe. His concept was to use fine jewelry techniques and non-precious materials to create jewelry for the middle class as well as for the wealthy. Brought to America in 1915 by his son William, Hobe jewelry was popular not only with everyday customers, but also with the Hollywood stars and such luminaries as Flo Ziegfeld. Inspired by period jewelry of the past, Hobe jewelry had an historic flavor. The name HOBE is synonymous with quality, especially in their earlier pieces.
