Antique Petrus Regout and Co. Maastricht Flora Pattern some copper Luster, transfer ware and hand paint. Hand Made in Holland in the 1800’s.
This is a set of three very rare antique dinner plates made by Petrus Regout and co. The mark dates to the late 1800s.
The Royal Sphinx factory was established in 1834 by Petrus Regout. It was located in Maastricht, Holland. In 1879 the image of the sphinx started to be used as a company logo and the name was changed to Petrus Ragout and Co. in 1887. In 1899, the name was changed to De Sphinx.
These plates are in the Chinoiserie style named the Flora pattern. It is an Asian design with orange, copper luster, green luster, blue and pink. There are some discolored areas, but astonishingly no chips or cracks or even crazing. There are some rough areas on the interior and missing paint in the transfer on all 3 plates as well. Please EXAMINE the PHOTOS very carefully to see condition. This popular design was manufactured for many years and is over 100 years old and possibly as old as 140 years old. I don’t know how people managed to take such good care of things and get this old with virtually no damage. There are flaws in plates that were obviously part of the manufacturing process and don’t hurt their value.
There is a stamp on the back that says 8F and I’m not sure what meaning that has.
Feel free to make me an offer for all three or just one.
