Horse Head Bookends | Equine works in Metal

Vintage Horse Head Bookends in plated metal in high gloss bronze. The composition process of these pieces starts with a mixture of metal alloys which is then electroplated with a thin layer of copper then stained. Each bookend measures 4-3/4” length x 3” width x 5-1/2” to tip of ears. Total weight: 4lbs. Label reads Hand Cast Quality Metalware Plated & Lacquered for Performance, there's cleaning instructions along with the producer: Philadelphia Manufacturing Company, Phila, PA. Condition: sound condition with a few flaws inherent to the nature of these items - the ears on these types of pieces are extremely fragile and in this case have been marred, most likely from shipping, best seen in photo #4; dent on back and what may be a chip, see photo #10. Made in USA between 1940's - 50's. Although no longer a collectible, the bookends are still lovely to look at with or without books and would be a welcome addition to any ledge or bookshelf.
