A matted print from the famous Bahamas artist Elyse Wasile. The print is called “House of Assembly, Rawson Square-Bay Street" and was originally painted in water colors in 1990 in Nassau, Bahamas. About the artist.....Elyse Wasile, Elyse was a highly celebrated artist, illustrator and designer since the 20's. The Bahamas, her home and inspiration, is reflected though the rich colors and textures created in her works. Her passion and versatility in the art world has seen her listed in Who's Who in American Art (1973), and international Biography (1975). Many private collections boast of her murals, paintings, ceramic tiles, pottery and miniatures both on Ivory and Slate in addition to her pen-and-ink drawings and watercolors. Among her numerous accolades, Elyse was the first Artist to be commissioned by The Bahamas Government to design a full definite issue of Bahamian Postage Stamps, in circulation until the 1980's. This was an honor seldom given to any one artist. Elyse designed and issued a series of 12 "KAISER" Porcelain Plates for collectors in a limited edition of 5,000 from 1982 to 1993. Then Elyse designed her work to be produced in Fine Porcelain by the famous company, KAISER, in Germany. All this has gained her the status of an unofficial ambassador of The Bahamas throughout the United States and Europe. Many stores carried Elyse's uniquely Bahamian gifts.
