These are prints that my grandparents brought back from Paris in the early 70's. I matted and framed them. They both have triple matts with lifts. That is why I posted pictures of the corners where the matts and the picture come together. Posting for another posher because I do this as a side job. Thanks for looking. 💖

dianautrey @shady101 here are a few that I have done. I posted a pic where the matts come together with the picture so you could see how the lift really gives depth to the picture and draws the eyes to the center. Sorry about the glares. I can try to get better pictures tomorrow when I have natural light to work with. I hope you like them. The mat colors are kinda hard to see. But the first pic has a sued may on to then a light blue and a deep teal as the bottom mat

dianautrey @shady101 the second picture is a deep blue sued'ed mat on the top then a white may and a really nice lavender mat frames the picture. I don't do this to make money. I only ask for the cost of supply's Aaron brothers would charge probably closer to 600 dollars for triple mats with lifts. I'm not in it for that. Like I said cost of supply's and maybe just a little bit for time or trade of a piece of your beautiful artwork😉

dianautrey @flylightly thank you very much. I take pride in my work. I used to work at Aaron brothers and I know how expensive it is. It's insane how much they charge. I do it all even make sure there is a dust cover on the back. Very important. 😽

dianautrey @mcjayne oh wow thank you very much. It is a form of art it really is and if you don't have an eye for color you just can't do it. I used to work for Aaron brothers and they would hire just anybody to work the framing counter. Like everyone had to do it.

mcjayne @dianautrey in my youth I worked for a place called "the art cellar" in Phoenix then when I was in school I was promoted to working their other gallery "el pedrigal" which was in the Scottsdale/queen creek area in az and I learned a LOT about framing, matting, measuring etc (I worked the framing counter for two years) and Aaron brothers was our big competitor! Small world my friend! I try get what goes into your beautiful work.

mcjayne @dianautrey I remember watching a young kid we had helping a lady Matt an expensive Betsy Ross piece (I'm sure you remember her work she was so popular in the early 90's) and he did such a bad job on her framing and matting that she cried!!! 😓

dianautrey @mcjayne oh that is just horrible. Our kids that worked there most of them were afraid of it because they knew they didn't know what looked not only good but why would do what matting is supposed to do one to look beautiful and most importantly pull your eyes to the center where the artwork was. So I jumped in and help or took over when ever I could.

dianautrey @mcjayne But we had a few guys there that had no clue but thought they were pros and put out the most terrible work I'd ever seen. It was sad because the customers were really upset.

mcjayne @dianautrey what made me nuts and I'm sure you relate are people who want to make the picture match their decor by choosing matting and or framing that didn't do a THING for the artwork and they would spend thousands!! It killed me to watch!!!😤😤😤😤😤

dianautrey @mcjayne the first piece I put together for a lady the first week I worked there was a beautiful picture of Mary Magdalene and I put it with a triple Matt with a lift and a gorgeous frame. The day she came in to get it I wasn't there so she asked when I would be and my next shift she came in and hugged me and started crying because she said when she saw it all put together she was just overwhelmed with the beauty. It was a good feeling. 😊

mcjayne @dianautrey you know..."well my walks are bright pink with leopard spots so let's do a pinky-leopard matting (triple acid free of course) with glare free glass over my original Leroy Neimann...urgh...

dianautrey @mcjayne oh I know right and then there were the people who wanted a simple black frame and a black Matt. Omg I was like you realize from any sort of distance that going to look like you have a 4 inch black frame around it and will do nothing for your art work you'd be better off just sticking it In a black frame. Lol

dianautrey @mcjayne oh yeah I remember those as well. What a nightmare. Luckily I was usually able to talk them out of that kind of stuff but yeah there were those few that no Matt what you suggested the said no I want a pink leopard Matt. And a bright white metal (ugh!!) frame. Metal frames make me sick lol

mcjayne @dianautrey oh my gosh I swear I'm remembering so much now!!! I will never forget jerry lee Lewis coming into our gallery and buying a $18,000 ertè statue within 5 mins of me showing him how much I loved it and why. He was a big buyer in our circle!!! It was a great job! Then the economy tanked and that was it...business got slower.. .the owners worked more and more...eventually lay offs...😓

dianautrey @mcjayne I did love doing that for a living I did it all I was running the store within a month of starting as a season employee. I taught my self to frame I had to because the framing was so far behind. Omg. But it was corporate they didn't give a darn about my skills or eye for framing all they cared about was money. 😢sad.

dianautrey @mcjayne thank you so much. I love doing it. I am an artist as well but the one thing I can't do is paint very well. My favorite mediums are graphite and charcoal and colored pencil (only the best of coarse) the cheap kind are too waxy and don't blend. But I have a block for so long. So I started framing again. It make me happy. 😊again you have made my day. And if you do ever need anything framed. I'm sure we could work it out even long distance. 😊
