One-dollar
The United States one-dollar bill (US$1), sometimes called a Single, is the lowest denomination of US paper money since the discontinuation of US fractional banknotes in 1876.
An image of the first US President (1789 –1797), George Washington, based on the Athenaeum Portrait, a 1796 painting by Gilbert Stuart, is currently featured on the obverse, and the Great Seal of the United States is featured on the reverse.
The dollar bill has the oldest overall design of any U.S. currency currently produced.
A dollar bill is made of 25% linen and 75% cotton.
This mixture makes the banknotes more difficult to counterfeit compared to paper (while increasing its durability).
