Beautiful, large copper vessel with hand forged wrought iron handles and brass “strap” detail. This is a definite statement piece to be used in any room for a multitude of styles. Useful for large plants, pillows or blankets, or other creative designs.
This piece is in excellent condition in comparison to similar pieces in circulation. A truly extraordinary item.
Dovetail soldering (otherwise known as a cramp seem) denotes the Coppersmith technique of the 19th century. This dovetail process ended just before the year 1900. This allows a piece like this to be created out of a single sheet of copper with only one seam secured to the bottom of the pot to last for centuries. Estimated origin of this piece is mid to late 1800s. Place of origin is likely England.
Original condition unaltered. Minor weathering/aging gives it a beautiful, aged look.
Price is $2,200 or best offer.
The only other item for sale online similar to this English style with top-to-bottom bronze “strap” detail is a 24”x24” version currently for sale on website chairish.com for $4,250.
