jinkee Where are you learning to ride? MSF? Yes I am 5'2.5 and it was a little difficult too. I had to mod my bike (honda cbr 250) so it was a little lower. You will have so much more confidence when you can touch the ground. I highly recommend good gear. Feel free to ask me any questions.

rhenag @jinkee my boyfriend bought me a ninja 300 for my birthday :) i ordered the lowering links, so I'm waiting for that. Also for frame sliders! I know I'll drop the bike learning. Do both your feet touch the ground? Or do you stop and rest on one? My bf has a hard time giving me riding tips bc he doesn't have these problems! ;)

jinkee Nice gift! :-) Please take a MSF course!! Don't get your bf to teach you. My husband is an excellent expert rider but I took the course to learn how to ride + fundamentals. I already knew how to ride before my husband started giving me advice. Very important. Glad you are getting frame sliders! :-) I was initially advised against and then when I got my bike, I laid it down in a parking lot within a week. The FS saved my fairings! Haven't dropped my bike ever. I can reach the ground with the balls of my feet (all u need really) with zero lean. Dont lower too much or there won't be any ground/corner clearance. Just the balls of the feet! Lastly, what gear have you bought?

rhenag @jinkee already had a helmet bc my bf rides. Got a new helmet and gloves on the way: speed and strength wicked garden series.. Breaking in my joe rocket boots.
