It is part of the well-loved, well-used charm. The back pocket can hold my iPhone 14 Pro. The dimension are approximately inches by 5 inches by 1.5 inches. The longer handle has a 27 inch drop. This is a "vintage" bag. I think I bought it in the 90s.
